Angels Online is a 2-D fantasy MMORPG showing a vague resemblance to Ragnarok Online. After creating a character you can choose one of 13 classes. Also, Angels Online has a great resource gathering and crafting system.

Angels Online Reviewed

Creating my character in Angels Online seemed very familiar. That is because the character creation window looks very similar to that of another well known MMORPG, Ragnarok Online. In Angels Online, you start right in front of an NPC with whom you must speak to in order to choose your first class. Those with MMO experience should already have an idea of what each class does: archer, warrior, magician, summoner, and so on are all pretty standard classes.

After picking your class and completing the simple missions given by various NPCs, you are led to a beginner town where you must “Graduate” by earning 5 points from each of the three different tutorials: battle, magic and mine. The Battle and Magic teacher’s quests are simple kill quests “Go here and kill 10 of X monster and come back,” The final teacher, the “mine” teacher, will give you resource gathering quests which are, for the most part, boring, but introduce you to the resource gathering skills of Angels Online. I have never been much of a crafter in MMOs, but knowing that the game I’m playing has this feature always reassures me that a player run crafting economy exists.

Once you graduate from the Beginner City, you’re given the choice to pick one of the 4 towns to guard as an “Angel”. Angel Online has some interesting features, but too much of it feels either worn out or limited. While there are better games out there, Angel Online is still enjoyable and worth trying if you’re looking for something with that classic, slanted 2D camera angle, especially if you’re a fan of Ragnarok Online.
