Exteel is a 3-D, third person, Mech Combat MMO. Mix and match different parts and fight others with multiple game modes such as Capture the Flag, Death Match, Last Stand, and Territory Control. Exteel is a much expanded version of Custom Robo, but for PC!

Exteel Reviewed
Creating your account for Exteel is a bit more of a hassle then it need be. First you must create a NC “master” account, then you must activate Exteel into that “master” account. But Exteel is worth that little extra effort. You start out in the tutorial with a basic Mech. The first 5 or so tutorial missions are a complete waste of time. Not only are the lessons obvious, but each one is dragged out. Moving, boosting, jumping, shooting, and overheating each get their own tutorial. The first five tutorial lessons could of easily been lumped into one short one.
The next few lessons are “advanced lessons” which actually put you into combat with enemies that fight back. It is highly recommended that you complete all these tutorial missions since the game rewards you with a chunk of cash and new parts for completing each. It shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes to get past all the tutorials. Once you’re past that nonsense, be sure to beef up your graphics and resolution if your system can handle it, and customize your controls if you are unhappy with the default.
The game play in Exteel is very similar to GunZ: The Duel. Both are 3D, third person shooters where you level up and get new parts or guns. Similarly, strafing to dodge incoming fire is essential in both games. From the lobby you can hop into battles at any time and join the fray (I recommend team death match games with which to get started). There are several types of weapons in Exteel: melee weapons that deal heavy damage; short ranged rapid fire SMGs; long ranged rifles; and slow, but powerful siege weapons. You’ll be introduced to all of these in the tutorial missions, don’t worry. All your online stats, such as time played, kills, deaths, and assists will be recorded and give you an indication of how well you’re playing, which can be a big incentive to get better and improve your statistics.
As you play and earn money and experience, more and more parts of the game will become available. While levels and weapons make a big difference, the biggest determining factor of who wins is ultimately player skill. The one thing that annoyed me about Exteel was that for most weapons, your must “lock on” to your target before your bullets will damage them. Locking on takes less than a second and makes sense once you play the game, but why is it that my bullets can pass right through a target without damaging it unless I’m locked on? Exteel won’t be the kind of game you “grind” at for hours at a time, instead it will be one where you play a few rounds a day with your friends or against random opponents. I highly recommend Exteel to anyone who likes shooters or action games for the PC and especially to those who like Mech games like Custom Robo.
