Ghost Online is a 2D side scrolling MMORPG. The game looks remarkably like MapleStory, with a few game play differences, most notably; PvP. The game tries to integrate a storyline at the beginning of the game, but poor English during the introductory cut scene and the lack of English voice overs ruins the any potential the story had.

Ghost Online Reviewed
Ghost Online look identical to MapleStory. I had to say it. The game’s developers seriously used MapleStory as a template for Ghost Online. This isn’t really a bad thing, as MapleStory was a fun game, but unfortunately Ghost Online failed to capture the all the “fun” of MapleStory, but did add of unique features to the game, mainly a functional PvP system. The game tries to have a story, which isn’t a bad thing, but the fact that you can’t skip the poorly made tutorial / introduction at the start of the game is very annoying. The entire opening cut scene is filled with grammatical errors and the story isn’t even coherent.
One major complaint about Ghost Online is that it has a terrible skill system that simply doesn’t work at times, as it seems that putting skill points into spells and abilities has a minimal impact on effectiveness. My mage with 20 skill points in one spell did almost the same damage as my friend’s warrior that had a only 1 point into the same skill. I’m convinced that the 20 skill points I’ve invested into that particular skill was an absolute waste. Although I did do slightly more damage, I believe that was due to the fact that I had pumped all my attribute points into intelligence.
Another complaint about Ghost Online is that creating an account for the game is unnecessarily difficult. It’s as if the developers went out of their way to give you a hard time. The site is difficult to navigate and for the most part, not even in English. Furthermore, the in-game English dialogue is horrendous. You’ll be able to understand what NPCs want you to do for quests, but the poorly written dialogue takes away all the enjoyment of actually trying to follow the game’s story.
Since Ghost Online is very similar to MapleStory, the developers did manage to use some of the same enjoyable aspects of MapleStory in Ghost Online, like simple game play and sleek 2D graphics which can make Ghost Online enjoyable if you’re looking for a game that looks like MapleStory. If you can look past the flaws, the game is still worth trying, especially if you’ve played MapleStory already and want to try something similar, but If you haven’t played MapleStory yet, play that instead.

Ummm ok I have to say it. Ghost online was produced WAY before MS. Ghost online just wasnt as big of a catch as MS was.

This game if you ask me is way better than maple story.
1. Leveling does not take forever, as in maple story it could take forever just to reach level 10.
2. It actually gives you a reason to level since Maple story has no PVP unlike Ghost online that does.
3.The ability to run and jump higher in the game is alone the biggest improvement.
I agree that the translation sucks but the gameplay is what matters and if you ask me it fixes all the problems maple story has.

It beats MapleStory and Windslayer. ^_^ The leveling is decently paced and the quests have a nice variety to them.
Who ever wrote the review for this game on this site is crazy, the NPC English is a lot better than most games, it’s only the voice overs and certain screens that are still in Korean but that does little to hinder the actual game play.

1. In MS you have to get overpriced 2X exp card to even level in the higher levels.
2. Skills don’t increase much when you put points in them as an attempt to keep skills balanced.
3. GO is slow on updates.

1. i play both ms and go
2. i rly do love both of them but ms is rlllyy boring but i still like it becuase all my friends that i kno get on and hang out
3. i have no idea y GO has a bad rep everyone thinks it sucks but trufuly they probably only think that because they have a lvl 100 ms file they dont wana do sutin else even tho ITS BETER!

sooo, can you tell that this game has a small community?, is that an issue?
by Kevin, on 09.16.08 @ 11:39 pm
The community isn’t that big of a deal, especially if you tell your IRL friends to play with you.
But if you want to play a 2D game, I really would say try out MS, unless you’re bored of it. (Level 8x, and currently tired of it.)
And if you want to try a really good game, I’d say play LaTale, which is going to be officially released in.. 2 days.

LaTale is better than maplestory and ghost online right?Because im playing Latale.
