GunZ the Duel Review

GunZ: The Duel is a fast paced shooting MMO where you can level up and buy new weapons and armor. Game play feels like an anime inspired version of Quake 3 with a good amount of RPG elements thrown into the mix. Players can start off with a number of starting equipment packages for their character, but I strongly recommend that players select the package that has the dual Renards [Dual Uzis], as they’re the most powerful starting weapon.

You can play all sorts of different game modes, but the two most popular are free-for-all matches (think Quake) and team matches (think Counter-Strike). GunZ is a totally unique game as it is a fast paced shoot-em-up with swords and rockets. Come on. Swords and rockets? Thats an awesome combo. Guns are much easier to use than swords, as novice players can easily get frustrated trying to master the sword because it really does take a significant amount of time and an enormous amount of skill to be good with the sword. But if you look at all the “Professional” GunZ matches, the experts constantly use swords, so it would be a good idea to at least practice with it a bit.

GunZ is a totally unique game and the the only other game I can think of remotely like GunZ is Combat Arms, and that’s slow paced. The fact that you can level up and buy new and improved guns constantly keeps you wanting to play and get stronger. The game keeps things balanced by separating higher leveled players from lowered level ones, but you can still play with your high level friends in certain channels that aren’t restricted by level. If you’re a fan of shooters, or anything fast paced and competitive, GunZ the Duel is definitely worth playing.

The stuff in the vid isn’t as easy as it looks. There is a technique called butterfly which takes about an hour to get the basics down, and 2-6 weeks of constant use of it in EVERY LAST MATCH to get competent at. And that’s one of the easiest techniques. So no, you’re not going to be able to do that the moment you set foot in your first game room. Which is likely to be the Mansion map. Imho that map is overused. Too sprayer friendly, too.

This game is awesome and like some say, it takes a good while to get use to the game. I first started to play this game about 3 years ago. So I’m use to all these moves and I will say you don’t NEED to know to play well, but it’s probably better to learn and stand a better chance. Once you do learn it’s all fun and games. As cheap as premiums are for this game it’s worth it if you want the extra HP/AP or just for looks. It may not have the best graphics, but it’s fun as hell. Eventually you’ll probably get tired of it and take breaks or w/e from the game or just because your hands hurt as hell. ( Doesn’t happen to me anymore ) :P The game can get repetitive cause you only kill people or monsters ( if you quest ).

The advance techniques do keep you playing for a while though :P Overall it’s a great game that everyone should try playing.

Good game, but for the reader, don’t get mislead by this line:
“But if you look at all the “Professional” GunZ matches, the experts constantly use swords, so it would be a good idea to at least practice with it a bit.”
Those people are not experts. They are life-less people who sit at their computer, all day and all night, their so called “professional sword skills” is just hammering off a ton of button combos so you can interrupt the animations to go faster.
What happens for one of the most popular moves, the butterfly, is you jump around while having to constantly rotate between slashing and blocking and jumping, and the result is you being constantly airborne so you’re hard to hit, you strike people and then block again so you can rarely be shot… it all amounts to frustration for new people.

This game is fun at first, but continuously being beaten up by
those professionals and hackers out there isn’t a good thing.

Rapid keyboard and mouse clicking required for those killer styles..
Well,no doubt, its a fun game but won’t last long due to the population
    of the hackers and bots.

For third person shooter games,i would prefer Manga Fighter for PC and Gear of wars for the Xbox 360.

By far one of the best shooters I’ve ever played online. The game legitimately takes skill to be good at, and those who practice gain more of an advantage on other players than just levels. The game does a pretty good job of keeping the level gaps separated so you’re not always playing with veterans as a newby. They also did a good job of not making the cash shop items gratuitously overpowered so they dont give paying players a large advantage over those who just plunk away in their spare time. One of the largest cons, however, is the amount of people who hack the game, making many matches no fun any more. Another problem it has is that the community has a lot more jerk off players than nice ones. A lot of times, its like you’re playing with a bunch of foulmouthed 10 year olds. But aside from those things, Gunz is definitely worth playing and putting alot of time into.

Hey GunZ is NOT hard… Ive played this game 4 years ago and on the 1st week it was rough. Then about 3 months later I was a teacher. People be coming to me and was like ” Can you teach my TBF plzzz i allready kno DBF ” But the main point is that its NOT hard AT ALL.

There’s an similar game just released weeks ago,
the ‘S4 League’, fast paced combat and without
rapid clicking. The graphics are average. It’s
in Open Beta right now, although there’s a wipe
for the characters and in game currency after
Open Beta, the in game names will still be save.

Worth a Try~,i saw some Gunz players joined this
    game ‘S4 League’ too.
