Holic Online Review
Holic Online is definitely one of the best free MMORPGs out there. Everything from the game’s gorgeous animated graphics to the sleek interface adds to the awesome aesthetics of this game. The first thing you’ll notice when starting the game is that the game feels very smooth; it looks and feels like a mix of World of Warcraft and Secret of Solstice. Select one of the games five playable classes; Warrior, Mage, Monk, Bandit or a Priest and start exploring the world of Holic Online.
Upon actually creating your character you’ll be presented with a cut scene that tries to introduce the game’s story to you. The cut scene is well animated but something was definitely lost in translation, as the game’s story feels completely incoherent. After the cut scene, you’ll find many quests NPCs to talk to, I recommend you talk to them all and grab as many quests as you can, as most quests include going outside town and killing X amount of monsters. Since you’ll be grinding anyway, it doesn’t hurt to complete some quests while doing so.
One downside to Holic Online is that there are only two races; the Seneka and Koshare. The Seneka are humans while the Koshare look like happy dwarves. One of the most unique features in Holic Online is the ability to multi-class. The game allows players to switch from class to class in order to gain new skills. This system allows players to mix and match skills from up to six different classes, and ultimately end up with a unique character build.
Questing in Holic Online is almost identical to questing in 4Story. The quests objectives are displayed on the top left corner of your screen and your quest log also looks unusually similar to the quest log in 4Story. The also copies World of Warcraft’s item linking system, where you can link items in chat, making trade much easier. The skill system in Holic is also simple and well done. As you gain experience, you automatically gain new skills and spells, no need to buy skill books or anything. The only drawback to this game is the extremely poor English Translations. The game’s still worth checking out though.

i totally agree with farlan. this game has so many good things about it. and ever since it was officially released, there isnt a thing about it that isnt flawless. i luv the quest system and how it cuts to a screen showing the npc in full detail. and the character creation rocks too! i couyld go on and on but i wont.

I would say the only thing this game lacks is a community. It’s one of the best “cartoon” MMOs I’ve played. While the others are carbo copies, this one has elements that set it apart from the rest.

Just downloaded this game and cannot wait to check it out. I really started playing 3D mmorpg’s with wow and I think the reason I played so long was the interface, controls, and graphics that I did not see in most games. If this is not quite the look im going for I may try Rappelz as the description says it has a wow like interface.
Flyff - Gunz - Perfect World - Rappelz all look appealing.

How the heck do you log in? I downloaded and installed, and when I start up, it sends me to a WEB PAGE that wants to install a PLUGIN? I thought that for a 1GB download I would be getting a standalone program.

Yeah. you do have to use their plugin to login if I remember correctly. I think it’s silly that any game needs a plugin to launch.

Apparently they don’t want anyone to play this game as the registration page is out of order. I tried several times on different days, even had a few friends try, nada…..
