NeoFun Reaches Over 200,000 Registered Users

Looks like theres another game publisher in town, NeoFun. I went over there and checked out their portal and it looks pretty nice, but they don’t have any original games yet. The only games they have on their portal right now is Cronous and Sho Online. One thing that I’m curious about is why on earth do developers license their game to two different publishers? Sure the developer can make more money, but it effectively SPLITS the game’s community in two. In this case, Cronous is now available on both Game’s portal and NeoFun’s. Sho Online however is now available soley on NeoFun’s portal.

According to NeoFun’s own press release they have gained over 200,000 new registrations on October alone, the month NeoFun’s game portal was launched. NeoFun’s portal looks surprisingly similar to that of ’s, the guys that publish , Gunbound and a myriad of other games. uses the Slogan “Where Gamers Unite!” throughout their page and the NeoFun portal uses the same exact slogan on their arcade page. I’m sure they’ll change it in the near future, but copying someone else’s slogan is a pretty silly thing to do, especially if they want to portray themselves as professionals.

This is the original press release:
