Regnum Online is a 3D Fantasy MMORPG where players join one of three warring Realms. Each Realm has three distinct races and a unique environment — Syrtis, the lush wooded land of the elves, Alsius, the mountainous region of the Dwarves, and Iogins, the barren wasteland of the Dark Elves.

Regnum Online Review
Originally released in Argentina on May 2007, Regnum Online today boasts a global audience. The game looks and plays similarly to the pay to play MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot. Like DAoC, Regnum consists of three factions, or realms, at war with one another. Each realm has 3 unique races though all three realms share the 6 classes. The class choices for each realm are:
Sytris: Alturian, Wood Elf, and Half Elf.
Alsius: Utghar, Nordos, and Dwarf.
Ignis: Molok, Dark Elf, and Esquelio.
New players select one of three beginner classes; Warrior, Archer, or Mage. At level 10, players have two specialization options per initial class. Warriors may become a Knight or Barbarian, Archers can chose from Marksmen or Hunter, and Mages may select Warlock or Conjurer. Regnum Online has 5 basic stats; Concentration, Intelligence, Constitution, Strength and Dexterity. Players are given 5 points to distribute among these stats during character creation but they rise automatically afterward. Appearance customization is respectable in Regnum, players have several face, hair, and height customization options as well as hair/beard color choices.
Each realm has its own starting area but the initial quests are all similar. Players are introduced to combat with a kill quest followed by several more quest lines which introduce the player to various NPCs in nearby towns. Regnum has a classic W,A,S,D control scheme but be aware that ‘Q’ will trigger auto-run and ‘E’ will put your character into walk mode. Oddly, there is no way to jump. The graphics are acceptable but feel dated.
Regnum Online is heavily centered on PvP between the three realms. Many areas are contested and can be claimed by one of the three factions and holding these areas grants special benefits to the realm in control. Regnum also included a special Arena where all players can freely attack others. Regnum includes one strange feature which I haven’t seen anywhere else, the daily ‘tiredness’ timer. After playing for 4 hours, your character will start to receive only 40% experience from monsters and after 6 hours the experience rate is reduced to 20%. I can’t decide whether this feature is meant to discourage excessive play or to encourage the purchase of premium bonus EXP scrolls.

the exp drop at 4 hours is a true pain. let alone 6 hours. most people just log off and go on a diff account at that point. whatever works i guess.
Fatigue only affects PvE. You can still PvP with full realm points after fatigue (i.e. you could PvP 24 hrs a day if you wanted to).
RO also has a Linux client.
The graphics are similar to something you would see on a Zelda game on the N64.
Thats not neccesarily a bad thing.
The leveling felt slow and obnoxious for me though. Quests were pretty dull and most of the community doesnt speak English.
Despite the slow leveling, it is somewhat addicting and pretty interesting to play through out.
It has decent skills and cool classes.
while it aint dreadful i didnt like Regnum, the lvling was boring and after getting bored i went for something else.
i returned to the game a year later to see it was practally the same, not to say this is a bad thing but again i just lost intrest so the game needs more for the lower lvl guy before ill regain intrest
This game is entirely about PvP. The grind up to 40+ (lvl cap is 50) may take a little time, but not more than you got. Once into the Warzone, the game becomes very very exciting. Also, a very large update has come out, named Invasions. The Invasion system allowed players from another realm to invade a part of another realms’s territory, and with another task completed, the succeeding realm gets a special exp bonus for about a week. Try this game, if you give it the little time needed for endgame, you’ll be very happy you gave it a chance.
5 stars!
