Requiem is a 3D Mmorpg by Gravity, the folks that made Ragnarok Online. Requiem is unique in the sense that it’s one of the only “horror” mmorpgs out there. The game simply looks gorgeous, as Requiem is one of the most graphically impressive free mmorpgs on the market.

Requiem Reviewed

The first thing you’ll notice when you start playing Requiem: Bloodymare is the gorgeous graphics. The graphics are simply stunning. Requiem has three races and six playable classes, each class also has two different job advancements, bringing the total number of classes up to 18. The starting six classes are Defender, Templar, Warrior, Shaman, Rogue and Soul Hunter.

Once you start playing the game, the fast paced leveling coupled with the strong sense of advancement will keep you hooked. Unlike most mmorpgs, combat here isn’t boring. Combat is fast paced and you’ll constantly be hitting hot keys as you fight, which is significantly better than the “right click and wait” combat utilized by a lot of other mmorpgs. Another interesting aspect about the combat in Requiem is that its extremely gory. The game did label itself as a “horror” game, so if you’re easily turned off by blood, stay away from Requiem, or turn down the gore in the options menu.

Requiem’s PvP system is also quite impressive, as up to 192 players [96vs96] can PvP in a single battle ground at any given time. Although PvP can get chaotic, especially with so many players, it’s quite fun. Requiem also has a unique DNA system, which is simply another level of character customization. Players can, as they level, equip different combinations of DNA strands to their character at an NPC in town in order to gain new strengths. Equipping certain strands of DNA with each other also yields special bonuses, so you’ll have fun mixing and matching DNA strands while advancing your character. This makes it so every Warrior or Berserker in the game isn’t identical, which is definitely a welcomed change from the limited customization most free mmorpgs offer.

Although Requiem is one of the better free mmorpgs on the market, it does have several bugs, which will hopefully be addressed after the open beta. Requiem is prone to crashing on Windows Vista computers, especially if you minimize the game. Monsters randomly walk away from you at times when you attack them, which can get extremely annoying, as you’ll need to chase after them. Another complaint is that the game lacks story telling. How can Gravity classify Requiem as a horror game, if it lacks a story? If you’re scared of Horror movies, don’t fret, Requiem isn’t scary at all. Ultimately, if you’re looking for a new game to try out, Requiem: Bloodymare is definitely worth the download.
