Runescape is a 2D web based game, in which you take the role of a character from feudal times. This fantasy MMORPG is best compared to Ultima Online in the respect that this is a 2D game with similar, (but slightly less appealing) graphics and has the same general premise in regards to open PvP.

Runescape reviewed
The first thing that you will notice about Runescape is the jagged and poor game graphics. This will be terribly distracting and annoying at first, but after a few hours into the game this becomes much more tolerable. One unique aspect about Runescape is that the game doesn’t force players to choose a class, but rather allows them to customize their character however they like by working on their individual skills.
Runescape is also an extremely “balanced” game, as there is a simple rock-paper-scissors mechanism in the game. Although players don’t select their class when making their character, they will pretty much be some sort of variant of either a Warrior, Ranger or Archer. Mages beat warriors but lose to Rangers. Warriors beat Rangers but lose to Mages. Mages beat warriors but lose to Rangers.
Runescape allows players the choice to either play for free or pay to be a member; a member receive access to special in game features such as special quests and removal of advertisements. This 2D fantasy game can be best compared to Ultima Online due to the similar skill, and class system which doesn’t give you a choice of selecting a specific class or job, but rather you gain skill and abilities which shape your character into what you’re looking to play.
The combat system is a terribly repetitive due to the restrictive graphics and slow paced combat. Aside from combat, the game also offers the option to take on different trade skills such as fishing, fletching, cooking, crafting and many others. Another great feature in Runescape is the sheer amount of players, there are 159 different servers averaging about 1000 players per server, giving this game liveliness and a large community. In conclusion if you are looking for a game to simply pass the time between being in and out of the house, and can tolerate the graphics Runescape may be worth checking out. Runescape is also a great game to introduce to your younger siblings to get them into online games, as the slow paced combat and the tutorial is very newbie friendly.
