Character creation in S4 League includes picking a gender, clothes, and hair style and color. All new players start with the same submachine guns and sword. The game has a short, optional tutorial which shouldn’t take more than five to 10 minutes.
The tutorial has voice instructions which is an impressive feature, but the voice sounds silly and gets annoying. Most gamers familiar with shooters won’t need a tutorial to figure out S4 League, it uses basic WASD controls and aiming/firing is done with the mouse. Even so, I recommend completing the tutorial for the reward alone - 5,000 PEN.
S4 League supports two to12 players per game and features two game modes - Death Match or Touch Down. In Touch Down, the team that brings a ball that spawns in the middle of the map back to their side first wins. Each time a side scores, a new round begins. Oddly, there is no free-for-all option, all matches involve two teams fighting against each other.
In this fast-paced game players must keep moving or die almost instantly. Higher level players will have some advantage over beginners, but even the starting guns are powerful. Like in GunZ, players can perform some fancy tricks, such as dashing forward and bouncing off walls.
Additionally, a lot of objects in S4 League can be destroyed. This is not limited to crates and barrels, even pieces of roofs and bridges can be destroyed. Like most video games, however, unless you’re playing with friends there will be a lack of teamwork, which can be frustrating since S4 League has nothing but team modes.
The currency in S4 League is PEN, and can be earned in team play and by completing ‘missions’. These missions typically involve players completing tasks while taking part in game modes. For example, one mission might ask a player to do five wall jumps during a match.
New players start with plenty of PEN, but earning additional PEN and experience is slow paced compared to rival free shooters. The item shop is well stocked with new clothes, hair styles, face styles and other cosmetics. These appearance items add more than looks though, clothes can be augmented to increase specific stats such as a player’s weapon proficiency.
Like GunZ, players in S4 League have multiple weapon types to choose from, ranging from submachine guns, rifles and bazookas to melee swords. S4 League may be new, but it already has a large community and finding a match is never difficult. The game also has a nice sci-fi/techno theme, which differentiates it from other games. If you’re interested in shooters, S4 League is well worth checking out.

I must say S4 is one unique and kickass FPS, comparing to most FPS the graphic is a great difference, and serves a difference from the usual militaristic themes. It’s one of those FPS out there with more cartoon or anime graphics. Though the game is good, like already mentioned the lack of solo/FFA and game modes are a flaw. Besides those I would like to also add the company’s bad communication, unless I have mistaken they recently took down the server without notice and as an open beta, there are still numerous bugs. Lag though seems to be a moderate issue. There are several important bugs such as the friend list, not working well. Also the reload time, I would have to disagree and put that it’s just about the right time. Lets you treasure your bullets more and makes you open at times. There are contents lacking, though the experience is one of a kind. Hopefully in the future the bugs will be fixed and put as a minimum and further content be released. It should be noted that weapons that are bought are only for a duration and that your clothing needs to be repaired, though PEN is quite easy to get in my opinion. The community are cooperative at times and an annoyance at others. Also taking a license test on some of the weapons or skills gives you a 5 hour duration of the item you tested for. These gives new players or poor players to use those item from the shop.
FINALLY, dude I have been waiting for this game since it was first talked about being developed. This game really is kick ass. Thnx for letting me know ..
Ok first off, Godcrusher, this is NOT a FPS. This is a third person shooter. I suggest you seriously learn your game types.
Secondly, this is a great game with wonderful graphics, for it being free and all. This of course doesn’t mean it can’t compete with other games of the same nature. I’d say the graphics are better than WoW’s(Who’s aren’t) and look somewhat cell shaded, which means they are a lot glossier and look more cartoonish.
There is plenty of gameplay, although the games 2 modes can get quite annoying. You have Touch Down, which is a modified CTF, and you have a classic death match. The character animations look wonderful, especially with the wide variety of skills you can use(Flying for one). There are mini missions which you can complete to earn cash. They go with a ranking system instead of leveling, which means throughout your playing experience, all of your characters will be a given rank. This makes it easier to buy weapons and armor. The thing that really drew me into this game is that there is a HUGE variety of customization options. There are multiple armor/clothes to pick from. You can pretty much change your appearance to anything. Another thing that separates this game from the rest is it’s easy of play. You don’t have to rapidly pound on your keyboard to actually accomplish something. You can join a game without someone running around like a madman, killing everything in his wake.
Lets get to the bad. There are tons of connection errors. I had to attempt to log in twice just to get to the server select screen. When you finally are able to find a game you have to attempt to enter twice or more before you can play(They seem to have fixed this). The game is polluted with hackers and laggers. I was in a Touch Down and someone on my team was hacking to auto-score. This pretty much sucked the fun out of the game. The laggers are seemingly infinite. It takes forever to kill them, but they seem to have no problem killing you. In order to avoid this you have to play on the foreign servers. Doing so won’t ensure no hackers/laggers, it only reduces them. There aren’t nearly enough weapons to pick from. The game has about 5 weapons that are widely used and the rest are pointless. When you first start the weapons you get aren’t even permanent. They expire in 7 hours. This game is sure to get you hooked, so you’ll be done with those in a day. This however wouldn’t be a problem if money wasn’t so hard to come by. It takes forever just to get 15k. The weapons are 28k+, which means you’ll have to chose between money and fashion quite a bit.

In case you’re wondering, this game is over 9000 times better than Gunz, even with the hackers and laggers.

This game rules, and i am SR15. This game is so dam fun. I love it
S4League is a really good game - however, less can be said about the people who host the EU version, Alaplaya. The game is ridiculously buggy, even for a beta game, and the GMs are literally nowhere to be seen, though supposedly the non-english language support forums receive plenty of support.
Right now there’s a problem with the login server that prevents a lot of people from playing at all, and it would seem the the GMs are ignoring it completely.
Don’t get me wrong, S4 is a wonderful game and definitely worth playing, but Alaplaya has ruined the experience for me.
I recommend waiting until the beta ends, to avoid getting addicted to the game and then being kept from playing it by bugs.

This is a great game…..BUT, as aureila said,there are few weapons and the money per match is way to low..but for some reason I have to disagree on that becuase if you play 1 match each week you can earn 50K per week. wich with the people going to schools and playing on weekends make it great way to have money.now also this game does not have NO ingame GMs whatso ever and admins are hard to tell that there there,but from what I heard its becuase of the lack of people they have on the team for this game and seems like they are hiring people…lol I might work for this game becuase it fits all the feilds I want becuase I’m aready planning on working for A MMO company and this would be a great start ><’

I agree with all the above this game is way cool and will have you hooked in seconds even though its true there isn’t enough skills or weapons but hey maybe that will get better and would some1 please tell me when you can get invisibility and chain skills on this game as am sr15 now but still dont see them appearing magically anywhere

Ok so i hope this helps you guys. Ok the licensed weapons you have to leave your pc on for 5 hours. Logged into the game not Playing of course. Leave it there for five hours and the weapons should still be there after the expiration time is up. DOnt ask me why this works i just know that I am not supposed to have my wings and all the weps still, I have literally been playing for a good while now and I still havent gotten them out of my inventory. I was told about this trick from one of my clan buddies in there. I hope this still works becuase I havent logged in in about 2 maybe 3 weeks now.
S4 is now closed from the 22/10/08 for aprox a week as is going to the final realease stage and we should get all the stuff the Korean server site has hooray well hopefully as alaplaya does not seem to tell any1 whats going on we will have to hope and see and dam bremstone why couldnt you have come up with thta hint earlier i doubt it will work now lol specially as most of us are going to have to start all over with no weapons again but hopefully compensated by pen!
i saw 2 posts here. 1 says its fps and the other says its third person shooter. there both right. default is third person shooter the i you use the the scroll in your mouse, it adjusts you view and can be set as fps.
I downloaded it but I can’t install it because of installshield error, something about a vendor and that I should close all other programs. I can’t even install the game, haven’t played it once, what do I do?

I redownloaded from the aplayaplya sight or however you spell htat name. Anyway I still got the install shield error, Is there anything else I should have downloaded in order to get the install to work?
PEN needs to be easier to get OR things in the item shop alot cheaper, also, weapons should not have a temporary period, instead there needs to be more weapons for alot cheaper.
This is an amazing game. It has a unique, and very interactive (and fun) combat system despite the fact that there is only a deathmatch and touchdown (capture the flag) mode. But, like all good games, S4 has its many (and actually quite deadly) flaws. These problems include (but are not limited to): a medium number of hackers/exploiters (enough that you notice them), annoying bugs and glitches, and worst of all: a broken economy. This is rather pathetic since there is NO trading system (as of now). But the problem lies with alaplaya. Apparently, they coded the game to give you pathetically small amounts of money for finishing missions and fights, and after a period of time, almost ALL players are forced to remake their accounts due to an unavailability of money to repair their weapons (or buy new ones), recharge clothing abilities, and do…just about anything.
It’s a good game with a solid concept, but it’s not worth putting time into unless the problems (mainly the money one) are fixed.
This game is really very fun! 1 million times better then Gunz.. GunZ isn’t very user friendly but this game is very simple to get the basics down.. The only negatives about it is there are only two game modes, death match and touchdown however they’re so entertaining that you’ll find yourself playing each mode for hours forgetting they’re the only two. Another thing is low rewards.. You don’t really get much pen (currency) for winning a match and considering how expensive weapons, skills and upgraded wardrobes are this really is it’s downfall.. But that really dose not take away from the games fun. I love it! My newest favorite F2P MMO Shooter..

Umm… dunno about you tibiamenz, but looking at the screen shots and seeing how the spirtes are styled and dressed, i wouldn’t call this game “adult”. in fact, the chick with a big ass gun in a blue hoodie and mini skirt makes it… eh… now i haven’t played the game myself, but i’m just saying this game don’t look targeted to towards the “adult” gamer.
it me again and i’m back after actually playing the game this time. yep, its a pretty solid game with solid easy controls and easy-to-get-used to game play. it does lag a bit for me, but i’m guessing that’s just because the server’s in europe and im in the us. and i dig the character customization options you have, but again, the models are a bit juvenile (at least they didn’t make the graphics completely anime-based. i’m tired of seeing that motif used). s4 reminds me of unreal tournament in a way. if you’re a fan of that franchise, then you’ll like this game. its a good way to send a hour or two of free time.

This game is really easy to get used to but the problem is you can’t really do much. You basically do the same thing over and over again until you get bored and then do it the nesxt day. You need more stuff to do… Its not that bad though if you are into this somewhat nice designed faced pace shooter. Its fun cause you can jump around or pretty much fly anywhere you want. Just needs a bit more to do.

Looks cool but it takes like an hour and half on my computer. Which ussaully means it wont work on m,y computer but its worth a try.

This is one of the most addicting MMO games I have ever played.
The only thing I hate is laggers because they never seem to die, but I usually ignore them and go for everyone else.

The account error thing is temporary.You need to wait a few hours to days for the server to register your account to the game servers.Same goes for me atm.
