Legend of Ares Reviewed
Legend of Ares is just another old 3-D MMORPG with aged graphics. The biggest selling point of the game is that you can level fast, and that items have pretty much random stats (similar to Diablo 2) so it’s always fun killing mobs hoping you’ll get some amazing item with perfect stats.
One interesting feature about Legend of Ares is that Once you gain a few levels, the game automatically provides you with a full set of free equipment by simply talking to an NPC in town, and the equipment you receive is very good for your level. This is definitely a feature that other games should try and mimic, as its a good way to get newbies started.
Mages seem to be the easiest class to level, as you can cast area of effect spells that can kill 5-10 monsters at a time. Partying in Ares is also quite fun, as the game provides a significant XP bonus for partying. Unlike most Mmorpgs where partying actually slows down your experience, seeing that Legend of Ares actually promotes team work is a welcomed change. If you party with someone higher level than you, you get full XP share, making power leveling very easy if your party member is within 20 or so levels of you. The game prevents XP share if the level difference exceeds 20. If you can look past the game’s graphics, it’s quite fun.
