MapleStory is one of the best free online mmorpgs available on the internet. Don’t let the graphics turn you off from the game, as the game is quite addictive. When you first start playing the game, you begin with a short and informative tutorial that teaches you the basics of the game without boring you to death. You start off as a Novice and can choose one of the base starting classes at level 10 or 8, depending on which class you choose to become. The four starting classes are Mage, Warrior, Thief and Bowman.
MapleStory is actually a surprisingly balanced game, as no class is “gimp” or underpowered and no single class is overpowered. MapleStory also understands that it’s difficult to level a mage early game, so the game allows mages to change into their first job at level 8 rather than 10, as they have to pump their intelligence rather than their strength as there is no attribute reset option upon advancing to your first class. Mages are incredibly weak early on in the game, as they can’t cast spells until they actually become a mage, but after they get spells they are the fastest early game levelers.
MapleStory is one of the better mmropgs out there because is the game is very simple. Anyone can start playing the game and get the hang of it within minutes, as it doesn’t have a complex skill system or frustrating controls. You’ll never find yourself not knowing where to go or what to do for a quest as each quest is explained well using as few words as possible. Unlike other MMORPGs, MapleStory has surprisingly good translations and there are no grammatical or obvious spelling mistakes in the game.
One major complaint about the game is that after you hit level 40 or so, grinding becomes a huge chore. It seems that the amount of XP that you need to level grows exponentially as you level, making leveling extremely slow. Additionally, when you die at higher levels, you can lose lose over an hour’s worth of experience which can be extremely frustrating. Aside from the slow leveling, MapleStory is one of the better MMOs out there and is definitely worth a download.

This game is ok... but there is no pvp so you pretty much lvling for no reason so i wouldnt recommend this game unless you like chatting and have lots of money because you'll need to buy alot of nx to survive in this game

I don't know why everybody is complaining on Maplestory. It's one of the best MMO's in the world. I play it almost every day and I love it. And one comment: What?! The community rules! Do you know why it's good? Because there are people who really cares about begginers and love to help others, me included. Don't be so bad against Maplestory! My main may only be lvl 36, but stop complain about everything. I think it's fun to kill cute monsters. ^-^ Well, sometimes I feel bad about it, but you have to do what you have to do. =P You need to see things with some positive felling. Don't look at the bad things, look at the good things instead. =D

I do have to agree with ThePhantom the community is like...ugh. The game is addicting, I HATE grinding, so I PQ, but most of the time, leveling is incredibly slow. Everything's all cartoony, but...addictinggg. When you give it a chance, it sucks you in forever, I can't stop playing...like...must...get..to...level...80... o.o

Maple story was a good game in the past but now its very bad compared to the new 2d games...Latale is the way to go now for 2d players..Latale has better gameplay, bosses, instance dungeons,guilds are more stable, controls have more grip then maplestory....and more. lets just say maplestory was last gen and latale is the new 2d game to play trust me...also leveling is much faster then any game ive seen so far!! my friends hit lvl 60 in 2 weeks and i hit lvl 50 in 1.5 weeks..also go to aeria games to download latale.. download this version since its the English version and the new and improved version of LaTale...my character name is PhantomInside so go friend me and tell me how you like LaTale im sure you will like it ^_^

maple story....this game sucks horribly!! The worst grinding of your lifetime and too many people act like zombies and never talk to anyone or when they do they just whine and moan and think there the best of the best and pick on everyone around..its just a horrible community and maple story shouldn't even be in any top ten mmorpg games because this game sucks so badly i would rather hit myself with a hammer repetitively then play 10 seconds of maple story the only good thing about maple story is all the cash shop items they got to offer. but it doesn't make up for the horrible grind and game play and crappy community and horrible and non inspiring classes and unbalanced classes and stupid monsters to fight against..i mean seriously you fight a tree bark and slime and pigs and a giant fish? is that all they can think of? were they just looking outside and making this game out of boredom?
