Released in 2006, PoxNora is a very unique game that combines table top miniature, collectible card game, and RPG tactics style game play. Like Dreamlords, PoxNora is played in a game client and on a web browser. Combat takes place in game while card management and deck construction must be done on the official site. The basics of PoxNora are simple to learn but constructing a functioning deck is much more difficult.

Upon launching the game, new players will be asked to try the optional tutorial. Each turn, players receive a certain amount of nura (mana) and can draw a certain number of runes. (cards) There are four rune types; Champion, Spell, Relic, and Equipment. Champions are the basic units while other cards support them in some way. The object of each 1 v 1 match is to destroy the opponents Shrine. Sadly, PoxNora can only be played in 1v1 battles against either another player or the AI.

Game play works like a turn based strategy game. All units (champions) have six stats: Attack, Defense, Speed, Range, Damage, and HP. Each turn units gain a Action Point (AP) which are required for movement and attacking. AP can be saved up which means units can move and attack several times per turn. Putting your nura and AP to strategic use is vital, blowing it as soon as you get it is not encouraged. Each round, champions will gain experience based on how they were used and whether or not their owner won the match. PoxNora has several varied maps, swamps, mountains, field, etc which keep things fresh. The music is unique to each stage and sounds great but unfortunately there is very little of it which mean you’ll hear the same short piece dozens of times during each match. Even with a 1:45 default turn time limit, matches take a long time. Turn based tactics games are not for everyone, patience is a necessity.
