Lets get straight into the action, Priston Tale has slow progression and plenty of grind but can be enjoyable in groups with friends. After choosing your class and tribe, you’ll be taken to one of 2 beginner towns. New players start with a pet dragon who, depending on its color, preforms various skills while in combat. Hoby crystals and low level gears are also provided to new players. Equipment in Priston Tale require the right stats and levels to be used. Each piece of gear may be clean or job specific. Players may still use equipment belonging to a different different class, but will receive reduced bonuses. The camera is a bit clunky and takes time to get used t. You must also be careful with your stats, they determine what you’ll wear and how strong you’ll be. You’ll need a cash item to redistribute your stats so don’t mess up.
Skills are assigned to the right and left mouse buttons and are obtained starting at level 10 from your skill master. There are 4 skills available per tier, special quests must be completed to rank up to the next tier at certain levels. You must get all the skills in a tier before you can rank up to the next. There are 2 slots for skills, one slot for your right click and one slot for your left. Skills improve as they are used, for as you master a certain skill its cool down timer will decrease.
All equipment in Priston Tale has various stats. Equipment can be aged or mixed. Mixing temporary improve stats while aging upgrades your gear but has a low chance of success. A fully aged piece of equipment will be stronger than a mixed one but it is more difficult and costly to fully age an item.
Crystals play an important role in Priston Tale. Crystals allow you to summon the monsters they contain. Summoned monsters have hp and time durations and when either reaches 0, the monster dies. Crystal types include hoby, hobgoblin, decoy, bargon, headcutter, figon, hulk, and many others. A special crystal known as ‘guardian saint’ requires a party full of guild members to summon. Additionally, crystals are required to make wings; special items required to operate teleport machines located across the game world. There are several different wing types, and using them grants the player access to new game maps.
Priston Tale contains two unique game features that set it apart from other MMORPGs. The first is Bellatra, Survive or Die. Bellatra is a special survival mission that occurs during sunrise at the town of Navisko. Players enter 1 of 4 rooms and fight through rounds of monsters. A party is not required but every player that enters the room will be cooperating. Players are teleported into a large square room where monsters will spawn, your job is to kill as many as you can to gain enough points to pass, and survive. The monsters drop items and special items spawn to aid you. After you lose or complete the entire mission you gain a tremendous amount of cash based on your performance. The scores of players and guilds are posted and measured on the site and in-game.
Bless Castle is a clan based castle siege event that occurs once a week. The clan that won last week’s event must defend the castle from all opposing clans. Occupying the castle gives clans large tax rewards. Attackers must pass a bridge and break down the castle gates before they may enter. Next, attackers must pass the guards and enter the final area where the castle stone is located. The clan that deals the most damage to the stone claims the castle. If no clan can destroy it within the time, the defending clan is the victor and holds the castle for another week. The clan currently holding the castle is given a special crown icon to show their status.
