The West is a browser game published by the makers of Tribal Wars and while they are both browser games, they play very differently. Rather than manage entire villages, players in The West control a single man (or woman) who's trying to make it in the Wild West. The West has a strong sense of direction, the game starts off in a saloon with simple guests meant to introduce you to all the game's basic features. Like most browser games, The West has slow paced gameplay - most actions take 10 to 40 minutes to complete and will progress without player interaction.

The West gives players a good deal of character customization. There are four key stats - Strength, Mobility, Dexterity, and Charisma each with 5 skills associated with them. Experience is gained by completing quests and doing farm work such as picking cotton, tobacco, and sugar cane. At level 10, players can chose a class besides the starting 'Greenhorn' choice. As you progress, you'll be able to participate in more player driven events such as running a town and dueling other players. Duels consist of choosing where to aim and what evasive maneuvers to preform per round. While The West is free to play, paying members do receive some prominent advantages such as 50% higher rewards for jobs and stat boost during duels. Overall, The West is a simple text based RPG with enough content to keep players coming back for a few minutes throughout the day.
