Review

War Rock is a mainly team-based FPS where games play out as a series of rounds that are won by either killing the other team or planting a bomb in a specific spot. Sounds simple enough, but getting this game running for the first time is very frustrating. Downloading the game can be slow depending on which download link you choose, and installing the game takes longer than average. The real problems occur at account creation. The site that manages War Rock, Gamers First, has the oddest account creation process. Your account name must have at least one number while your “nickname” cannot include numbers or special characters. Sounds straight forward, but it took the MMOHub team several attempts to create our accounts.

Once you start playing you’ll notice that unless you’re a paying member, the game offers you very limited options. Only the Team vs. Team game mode is available to you and whats worse, there are only three maps! The best guns are also reserved for paying members. Like the Battlefield series, players in War Rock have several options in terms of what type of soldier to play each round. The Assault class is the most common: it has the best assault rifles and grenades. The Sniper is deadly at long range but vulnerable close up. The Medic can heal herself and teammates, which is useful but the other two classes are nearly useless. The Engineer has a wrench which I have yet to figure out the purpose for. The Heavy Trooper has a Rocket Launcher but with no vehicles, at least in the free member maps, there is no use for it either. Leveling is rather slow in War Rock and since experience gained is based on how you perform, new players will have it the hardest. The game is supported by Punk Buster, the infamous anti-cheat software, so you can expect less hackers than in your average Korean game. The graphics in War Rock are surprisingly good for a free game: the game looks and plays like Battlefield 2 on the lower graphic settings, but with most of the content stripped out. And this is the major flaw in War Rock that keeps it from being a good free game. With only three maps and one game mode, War Rock will tire most players within hours. Some will enjoy the game enough to become paying members, but as a free game, it simply offers too little content.

Review

Hello, I'm Jon-Enee Merriex the Producer for War Rock. We really appreciate hearing feedback about our game, however there are a number of things that are incorrect. First and foremost Free2Play players can play in any open games which include any of our 40+ maps in 3 different modes. Free2Play players cannot create rooms with all maps but can freely join premium players who created rooms with maps they could not. Additionally, Free2Play players can play in more than one game mode: In Close Quarters Combat (up to 16 players per side) they can participate in Explosive and Free-For-All game modes on Marien, Cadoro, Velruf, Xauen, Bloc. In Urban Ops (up to 24 players per side) they can create rooms as Deathmatch on these maps: Central Square, Montana, Harbor Ida, Emblem, Havana, Ravello, Ravello 2nd st and Zakhar. And in BattleGroup (up to 32 players per side) they can create Deathmatches on Central Square, Emblem, Havana, Ohara, Engrene, Pargona and Zakhar. Also we have over 50 items most of which can be purchased for the in-game currency (Dinar) by all players. Only the PX items and 6 rifles cannot be purchased by non premium members in-game. All items can be purchased via our website regardless of premium status. We are always adding new weapons too including the brand new M39 Beretta that is available to all players regardless of premium status. Finally we parted ways with Punkbuster LAST YEAR. It seems like this reviewer didn't have much time to play the game. There was definitely a lot of stuff in the review that was not accurate at all. If you have time, I'd love to have you come back by and check out all the changes. I'll even walk you through some stuff you missed!

I used to love the game, last time I logged on was a couple of months ago. This game got totally ruined! I joined about 5-6 servers at the time and 2/10 players are hackers. And trust me, you cant deal with hackers. They have stuff like grenade spam and so on. So currently the game is completely useless.

this game looks like a laggy lame version of call of duty but i guess it would be fun to a few people if they can't play call of duty.

1st off i ve played warrock for about 3 yrs now, most of that time on the free2play account settings its an awsome game no doubt but u say in ur review that f2p maps have no vechical, thats a lie by far. Ohara map has tanks humvies & motorcycles even the smallest map has vechicals. so in part ur review fails. in fact the only true ur summary has is the account creation, in which it is a pain i the rear P.S the wrench is to repair vechicals
