Monte Cristo Games recently announced that the first beta stage of their city-building MMO, "Cities XL," has ended. In the official release, the company advises people to register for the second phase before it's too late, since it has the release schedule of "soon."

Normally I'd say Monte Cristo Games is trying to generate a sense of urgency, pushing players towards registration, when there's no need to panic -- but the company claims only several thousand invitations will be handed out. So ... yeah you might want to sign up early to try this title out if you're interested in the idea of a city-building MMO.
