Guilds, clans, teams -- whatever, they're all the same: an organized gathering of players in a video game. Now, Sony's huge free-to-play MMO, "Free Realms," has been updated to support the feature. (Oh, and if you're wondering, they're called guilds in this free-to-play title, and you need to be the 15th level in a job to form one.)

Speaking to MMORPG.com, systems lead Luke Sigmund explained what's been added:

"The basic tools are there – tags, chat tabs, the ability to teleport to other guild members. Recruiting and web tools will come later. We’re planning social networking features, but they won’t be coming online with the first guild patch. We need everything to be really polished before it goes live, and right now we’re focusing on in-game features."

Social networking, features? Hmmm, I wonder what he means. Perhaps integration with Twitter and/or Facebook? Or will Sony attempt to create their own in-game service? I'm hoping for the former.
