There's no doubt that weddings in MMORPGs have started to spread like a post-apocalyptic plague. That being said, with no surprise, NDOORS Interactive announced today that their free-to-play MMORPG "Luminary: Rise of the GoonZu" will have its own Wedding System.

A marriage proposal from at least one party can happen in a church that is west of Trania. "Both boy and girl characters must obtain a Marriage License and be unmarried for the proposal to be executed," says the press release. Gay marriage is not an option in this new Wedding System. Nothing is said about divorce options, so choose your husband or wife carefully.

On your wedding day, you and your husband (or bride-to-be) will be teleported to a church where you will take your vows. Is that our only option? Even if we don't have a religion or always wanted a beach wedding? At least we won't have to worry about any relatives, $3000 wedding dresses, wedding photos, matching linens, booking a venue for the reception...

Everything else is just as you would except -- a gown, tuxedo, a Flower Crown for the bride, questions back and forth at the ceremony by the Wedding NPC, and even an anniversary to celebrate after 12 days game-time which is 1 year in-game. Couples will receive Affection Points when purchasing a Pink Rose from Clara.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If you're going to put weddings in an MMORPG, it would be nice if there weren't all of the traditional white house and picket fence rules that fewer and fewer people are sticking to these days.
