"Omerta 3," the next version of the Mafia-themed MMO game based in the 1930s, is set to launch soon -- though the date has yet to be announced. With over 3.5 million users in the community and this year being the game's sixth in existence, it can be argued that "Omerta" is one of, if not the, largest Mafia-themed free-to-play game out there right now.

Steve Biddick, CEO of Omerta LTD, had a lot to say on the subject of the new "Omerta." “In version 3, we wanted to deliver an experience that breaths[sic] new life into the role-playing elements of the genre. The choices each player makes will have a big effect during the game and players will have to think much more strategically about the choices they make… Otto and the development team have made some great, imaginative changes”.

Of the new features available in "Omerta 3," one major improvement is the use of new and improved bodyguards. You can now hire a team of seven bodyguards with certain personalities who help out in some situations more than others.

“Depending on which type you choose there can be a great variety of different accents to how the game is played. For example Lee is a bodyguard who defends whereas Vic is a crazed-killer who will help players who are on the attack,” Otto Adang, "Omerta's" chief designer was quoted as saying. Part of the new bodyguard system is also the failsafe for when your boss dies. Instead of it all being over, now the bodyguard takes over -- just like that.
