Perfect World Entertainment recently announced that their martial arts-inspired "flagship title," the free-to-play MMORPG "Jade Dynasty," has now entered the open beta stage of development.

Here's a snippet of the hype-building word usage Perfect World used in the press release: "... it offers a multitude of features and systems not commonly found in free-to-play MMORPGs. Once inside the crisp, clean game world..."

That never gets old.

But I digress. As expected, a suit commented on the release. Perfect World Entertainment Inc.'s CEO Dr. Alan Chen said, "This is a very important release for Perfect World Entertainment. 'Jade Dynasty' will usher in a new generation of MMORPGs and we're excited to open this virtual world to all players in North America and Europe."

Did he say "usher in?" I don't want to sound pessimistic, but don't drink your own Kool-Aid, Dr. Chen.

In an odd move, Perfect World didn't announce any events coinciding with the title's release. In my short time playing free-to-play MMORPGs, as well as writing about them, I don't think I've ever seen a time where events weren't held celebrating a new game's release to the public.
