One of the more popular Mafia-themed MMORPGs on the Internet, the text-based browser MMORPG "Omerta," is launching its third version, "Omerta 3," in the coming weeks.

Over the last few months, Omerta Games Ltd. has been leaking new features that are going to be added in the "Omerta" update, and this week three new features were revealed: City Spots, Raids, and Defense.

"City spots are mostly businesses like Bars, Restaurants, Car lots, etc. Players of the new version of 'Omerta' will be able to own these. But keeping them will be a challenge as other gangsters can raid, driving by with armed friends or setting explosives off, to try to take the City spot object away. If one family keeps possession of the city spot object, intact and profitable after 23 hours, then all members of that Mafia family benefit from significant in-game rewards," explains Otto Adang, Product Manager and Lead Designer of "Omerta 3."

As Otto mentioned, Raids will be a way for players to take city spots, and to keep people from owning them. Raids will allow players to get into pairs, and attack another family's city spots.

To defend against raids, families that own a city spot can choose to either take all of the money earned from it, or to invest a portion into defense to counter raids.

An official release date for the new version of "Omerta" has yet to be revealed, but players can pre-register at the "Omerta 3" website.
