As MMO and MMORPG players and aficionados, we adore regular content updates to our favorite titles. For many, the additional quests, items, changes, etc. sometimes act as a catalyst for returning to the title they once abandoned. We're all gamers, and we just know this to be true, but how do these updates influence real money transactions in free-to-play MMORPG titles?

CDC Corp., the company behind "Yulgang," or "Scions of Fate" as its known in the West, announced today that daily revenue has increased by 45% following the release of the title's latest update on March 27.

The chief financial officer for CDC's gaming unit, Monish Bahl, said in response, "With more than 78 million registered users, 'Yulgang' continues to be the most successful game in our portfolio."

Continues? What about before revenues increased by 45%?

Anyway, I imagine most MMORPGs see similar gains following content updates, although I doubt the numbers are as high as 45%. But who knows? Most of the time companies keep this kind of information under lock and key, and/or no one wants to write about it.
