Every now and then MMOhub.org is receiving emails with research material. More then x percent thinks this and that. Over x percent plays MMORPG's at night.

It made me think on how these researches are being done. Surely you can understand that results of interesting researches (read; conclusions that cannot be re-checked) are good PR for the companies that spread these things around. Some journalists take over certain quotes of these conclusions without checking but mentioning the source. Bingo! Again the company name is mentioned.Of course it is important to have these outcomes online so you can have links towards your site like this :)

But realy, are true gamers participating in these kind of surveys. Don't they rather play games and mind their own business. How honest are the people that answer? Are the questions asked in a way that people realy understand.

When it comes to measurement of habbit, time of playing and how often, we can see more and more results that confirm eachothers conclusions. The only thing that is changing is the year. Survey 2009 is always a bit better then Survey 2008. Never did we see a survey that said "it has gone worse, we are doomed. its over".

The more often the press release is mentioning "leading company" in the area of this or that, the more the media trusts these researches.

So we have done a research over here with our staff. The question was; "do you like working in the mmorpg industry". More then 85% said they do. Conclusion is that more then 85% of all the people that work in the MMORPG space is happy.

This research was done by a leading network of MMO sites, namely MMO LIFE which is....us!

Now lets see if this get picked up and another rubbish research sees the daylight.

UPDATE; first people that responded said mention N=500. makes it more believable. Thing is tough; MMO LIFE doesnt have 500 employees. Ah well, who cares. It is a nice conclusion afterall!
