"Once you leave home you can never truly go back" is exactly the kind of asinine fluff one might expect Fred Savage to wistfully think out loud, but maybe it’s not completely without merit. After all, 18 months away from the MMORPG "World of Warcraft" made it extremely tough for me to return to my level 62 character. Readjusting to shifted goalposts proved too frustrating, particularly because of all the changes made to the talent tree, arguably the core of "WoW’s" leveling-based gameplay.

Still, maybe you can leave home, then come back, and then forget about absolutely everything that went on beforehand and start completely anew as if you’d got the amnesia, Dallas-style. That was my plan as I gave up returning to the well-crafted heights of yore, instead tumbling back down to square and (indeed level) one by rolling a shiny, brand-new character; proverbs be damned...
