No one enjoys losing, but suffering defeat at the hands of another player only because he or she has phatter loot is something entirely different. It's almost insulting, really.

In the just-released "Warrior Epic," players don't have to worry about this happening. In an interview with MMORPG.com, Karen Kang, assistant producer on the title, said "If Paris Hilton ever wanted to play 'Warrior Epic,' she'd better have some skillz; otherwise, she'd have to rely on party members or hire a private gaming tutor. But hey, she'll look good trying...that's about it." It's a silly way of saying "skillz are more important," but I'll take it over the boring PR-speak any day.

Also in the interview, Kang explained why this title isn't just another "Diablo" clone. "Possibility Space designed 'WE' with a western audience in mind," she said. "This simple factor includes several others: less grind, more competition, teamwork...the list goes on."

Does anyone else think it's funny that develepers, and I say "developers" because others have said this, list "less grind" as a defining characteristic separating Western MMO design from Eastern? How could anyone possibly enjoy doing the same task repeatedly in a videogame?
